Elmwood opens on April 22 – Come celebrate with us!
Our Story

Where It Started
Before Black Maple Coffee existed, Emily Morton spent twelve years working at her uncle’s engineering firm in Bartonville. In 2010, she began exploring what it would look like to run her own business — and in that search, she discovered something unexpected: a deep passion for coffee.
Emily moved back to Canton, met her husband Ben, and got to work. In April 2014, she opened the first Black Maple hut in the parking lot of Heritage Grand Inn Hotel in Canton — with a simple goal of bringing great coffee to small towns.
Canton needed a place where quality and convenience came together. Black Maple became exactly that.
““From our small-town roots, Black Maple is built on something for everyone!””

Growth
After establishing roots in Canton, Black Maple expanded across Central Illinois — adding locations in Lewistown, Farmington, Havana, and eventually Elmwood.
Today, Black Maple has five locations across Central Illinois — drive-thrus in Canton, Farmington, and Lewistown for quick convenience, and cafés in Havana, Lewistown, and Elmwood for those who want to sit and stay a while.
The newest location in Elmwood also includes The Canopy — a warm, second-floor event space for private gatherings, showers, meetings, and more.
